Most of the websites I checked (mostly time-banks) cover their member through insurance policies.
I would like to have this point fully explored before starting trading for real.
Testing is fine as long as it’s limited to a few trusted people, but I believe we need to have a legal opinion or at least understand what Clonakilty is doing on this side.

Well, who knows a contact person in Clonakilty?

Hi Andreas, Pat Burke is going to ask a person in Clonakilty about their opinion on this.

A couple of interesting links. They have different opinions on the matter:
    1) http://www.letslinkuk.net/members/legal.htm
(an extract: The Constitution and Members Agreement places the responsibility for transactions with members themselves rather than with the local LETS organisation which acts only as an introduction agency. It therefore follows that members themselves are responsible for ensuring the person they are trading with provides appropriate references and has their own insurance for professional work.)
    2) http://www.timebanking.org/?resource=insurance-risk-issues
    and http://www.timebanking.org/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=66
